Why have we never heard how men and women compare in terms of job prestige? A biased society might withhold lucrative jobs from people they dislike, but they would also deny positions of high status. According to the GSS, the prestige scores (ranging from 1-100) do not differ. For women, the average is 44.2, compared to 44.7 for men.
