Men have more energy than women: As a follow-up to the last post, I thought I would compare men and women on energy levels. For men, the mean 3.22, and for women, it's 2.90. To give you an idea of the size of the difference, it's 1/4 of a standard deviation. Women do seem to complain a lot about how tired they are, but then where's the survey question about how much do you complain?

    That's odd -- in the Costa, Terracciano, & McCrae (2001) meta-analysis, women scored higher on the "Activity" facet of Extraversion, though just by 0.11 SD in the US and across cultures. Men consistently scored higher than women on the facets of Extraversion called "Excitement Seeking" (by 0.31 SD in the US and 0.38 SD elsewhere), as well as "Assertiveness" or dominance (by 0.19 SD in the US and 0.27 SD elsewhere).

    Agnostic: Yes, 51.5% of men have energy most or all of the time versus 39.6% of women (N=1,409).
