Me and Janeane: Let's look at how conservatives and liberals reason differently. Janeane Garofalo recently noticed that the people who showed up for the anti-tax rallies on April 15th were basically white. Therefore, she said, the Republican Party is filled with racists. I noticed the same racial pattern and took it to mean that the anti-tax and spend sentiment is generally not attractive to minorities. I'll leave it to you to decide who draws more valid conclusions from observed patterns.

I'll put it this way: she made me want to puke.

I saw her spewing inanities on a tv clip. What "logic"! That people can even say something like that and not be laughed off the set by the interviewer is mind-boggling.

I get the feeling sometimes that as long as a person wears a badge or a cap or a t-shirt that screams, "I'm liberal," he or she could state that the earth was flat, the moon was made of cheese, and the sun revolved around the earth, and the "newsmen and women" would smile and nod "Yes" in affirmation.

  2. As if Generation X weren't insufferable during their heyday, now they've grown up -- well, gotten older anyhow -- and are moving on to their "political concept album" stage.

Like how the Baby Boomers wouldn't shut up during the mid-late 1990s. At least there aren't as many X-ers as Boomers, though.

Sometimes I'm tired of Pat Buchanan's reactionary attitudes, but as long as there are so many idiots like Garofalo and Olbermann around, I hope there will be ten times as many guys like him in the media.

Thereby constantly ticking off all of the sensitivities of all these degenerate braindead freaks. How did the West get like this? I don't know, but I feel like a foreigner in this ever-more dopey left-liberal world.

I definitely think it's reason B; Many NAMs figure: "if taxes are cut down, the infrastructure of our communities won't improve much"
Not in those exact words, of course, but you get the picture.

  5. LOL. After decades of Rush and Hannity and Coulter and Savage and Levin, you guys don't get to complain about an F-list celeb like Garafolo. Who cares about her?

Olbermann is kind of annoying and shrill, but he's not yet in the same league as Hannity or Rush. And the right has nobody of Rachel Maddow's caliber.

As if NAMS care about "infrastructure." They're too busy trashing the place.

"If taxes get cut, and we don't pay taxes anyway 'cuz dat's fo' white folks, we'll get less welfare and have to get a gulp, job!"

  7. I've been to many Democratic campaign rallies in Northern Virginia where much of the electorate is minority; and over 95% of the attendees are white.

  8. If the GSS has a question as to being active in election campaigns you could see what percent of each race is active by party and ethnicity and location.

I suspect that the majority race is the only race substantially active in any given location.

  9. "_______________ therefore the Replican Party is racist." Just fill in the blank. It doesn't matter what you put there, since according to a lot of DEMs ANYTHING the Replican party does is racist, including their participation in the Civil War.

I attended a political rally last week myself. It had been endlessly hyped on TV for weeks, so I figured I'd see what all the fuss was about.

Sure enough, it was filled with activists in strange costumes, spouting their doctrinaire propaganda and political sloganeering. And of course there were scads of opportinistic entrepreneurs looking to make a quick buck off the 'true believers' in attendance.

And Janeane was right about the demographics: about 95% non-Hispanic whites (in an area where such folks make up less than 2/3rds of the local population). A few Asians and Latinos, and only two or three African-Americans in a crowd of 300 or more.

By the way, the rally was actually our town's annual Earth Day celebration. And the demographics have been the same every year for the decade or so that I've attended.

It appears that concern for the environment is racist. Who knew?

  11. JA, if noticing reality is "racist," then so be it.

Racism isn't inherently evil, anyway. In fact, after you get over your hang up about it (and your hang up about it is how it affects you -- you've been spooked by the antisemites -- not the people you effect to bleed for), you realize that it's a superior way of life, a gift, really.
