ReplyDeleteIt was the Scots-Irish that gave us the Revolution, the Constitution, and our best military leaders.
ReplyDeleteAnd take a look at how England, or what's left of it, is faring.
LOL WUT?
ReplyDeleteFunny, but meaningless. I'm an eleventh generation American, and my sir name is English - Pepper - but that's practically a formality just for show now, as there are Mac-this, Mc-thats, and O-others joined in from the female sides going back over three hundred years now. I suspect most Americans with English last names have similar backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is not called a melting pot for nothing.
This thread is taking this too seriously, or I'm taking them too seriously!
ReplyDeleteObama's demeanor strikes me as so WASP that I think, in part, many of the whiterpeople were subconsciously voting for one of their own. That he was part African was the cherry on top for them. Obama is mostly his WASP mother, no doubt, and had his father not been so ink black, Obama's WASPness would be much more obvious. WASP with a dark tan.
BTW, put downs of McCain's temper shows anti-Celtic bias... He didn't have a chance in this WASP normative society!
It's sad to see that so few Americans want to own up to English ancestry now. How and when did that happen? I suppose it was inevitable after decades of WASP-bashing from the usual PC suspects.
ReplyDeleteI would say that more Americans of old stock descent in all probability have more Anglo-Saxon blood than they may realize.
Personally, I have a Celtic surname but more English and Welsh forebears than Scots.
I don't see any reason to be ashamed of that, quite the contrary.

ReplyDeletedon't be dumb.
Why do conservatives get the bad end of the stick? This is being brought on by the left-wing illuminati as a silent attack, and people are falling for it.
