TCM: Happy Sweet Sixteenth

Ted Turner has managed to do one positive thing in his long career--he started Turner Classic Movies 16 years ago. TCM is far and away my favorite channel. It connects me to an America I recognize. You can have all your idiotic reality programming.

Since you recognize the America on TCM, I've always wanted to know:
Married couples really slept on separate beds back then????

  2. Maybe it's because I'm younger, but I can't watch movies in black and white. i just have a visceral reaction to them.

I still think sleeping in the same bed (or even the same room) is idiotic.

Get done with the sex and then sleep on separate beds. Pretty simple.

I remember being shocked the first few times I saw twin beds in the bedrooms of a few friends' parents. Of course, on tv shows of the era, married couples had that arrangement, but it never looked "right" to me so I asked my mother why. Her reply was that some people got a better night's rest with their own space.

One day I asked one of my close friends why her parents had twin beds. She replied with the same response my mother had given me. As I grew a bit older, I wondered just how the heck hard it was to have sex in those narrow confines.
As I grew even older, I wondered if the twin beds were really a sign that the sex was over.

To tell you the truth, I still don't know.

LOL. There's a great "Everybody Loves Raymond" episode in which Raymond is driven crazy by his wife's need to cuddle.

I'm a cuddler. So is my husband, but I would suspect there are a good many people who aren't.
